UPS links Hong Kong and Cologne with B747-8F

UPS will deploy larger capacity aircraft, Boeing 747-8s, to service major trade routes connecting Hong Kong and Europe, via UPS’s European air hub in Cologne (Germany). The expansion is part of the on-going transformation of UPS’s smart global logistics network, which, according to 2017 global shipping data analysis, carries approximately 3% of the world’s GDP every day.

By August 2019, three B747-8s will replace existing B747-400s, and increase aircraft capacity by 19%, on four weekly direct flights. The upgraded flights are a result of strategic investments to expand UPS’s global air cargo capacity.

UPS is adding a total of 40 additional aircraft to its fleet, including 28 state-of-the-art B747-8 aircraft, to increase its intercontinental air express capacity. (ah)
