Upgrading Brake Port's second berth

German port company Niedersachsen Ports is investing EUR 8.5 million in the renovation of a large ship berth. A further EUR 1.5 million will be used to restore the jetty that was damaged by the Mount Hope accident.

After completion scheduled for 2023, two berths in the Brake seaport will be used more flexibly in the future. The bollards on the south pier in the Weserhafen, which are more than 50 years old, will be renewed over a length of around 400 m so that they will again be stable over the long term.

The fender line is being optimised so that ships no longer have to moor only at the first or second berth as before, but can flexibly use any position along the entire length of the quay. The outer and lower Weser will be extended as far as Brake. (cd)
