UP serves new railport in Utah

Utah Inland Port Authority (UIPA) celebrated the opening of the new Savage Cedar City Transload facility in Utah (USA) last week.

The facility provides transload services between trucks and railcars, and on-site storage for shippers. It includes 70 railcar spots available for transloading a wide variety of materials and products including dimensional freight, dry and liquid bulk, hazardous materials, and food-grade products.

The railport in Iron County is served by US class I railway Union Pacific (UP) and will expand services for trucking and industrial businesses primally throughout Southern Utah and the surrounding region. With the rail access, it will create an eco-friendlier alternative to long-haul trucking, UIPA said. (ben)
