UP adds link between LA und Chicago
The US class I railway Union Pacific (UP) is expanding its portfolio with a new direct domestic intermodal service from the Los Angeles Basin in California to the heart of Chicago, Illinois.
The new railway runs between the Lance Fritz Inland Empire intermodal terminal in Fontana, California and Global 2 in Northlake, Illinois. It will be available to all domestic container shipments and will complement existing service between Global 4 in Joliet, Illinois.
Transit times for eastbound and westbound trains will be about four to six days. The new service will allow customers to reduce drayage costs in the greater Chicago metro area and in Southern California with intermodal services closer to the first and final mile, UP said. (ben)
