Unitax expands its capacities
The 20,000 sqm logistics area at the company’s headquarters in Berlin-Schönefeld (Germany) is no longer sufficient: The pharma logistics provider Unitax has signed the leasing contract for another 10,000 sqm pharma warehouse and a 1,000 sqm refrigerated warehouse in the cargo handling centre in Grossbeeren. Unitax opened the pharma logistics facility in Berlin-Schönefeld six year ago. Since then the number of pharma products has almost doubled.
At the new location in Grossbeeren the company stores primary packaging materials and finished medicinal products; the refrigerated warehouse is designated for veterinary vaccines and veterinary medicines. One of the reasons for the great demand for Unitax’ services are the high standards imposed on pharma logistics providers.
They need a Good Distribution Practice and Good Storage Practice certification and – if they also provide value added services such as order picking and packaging – they require a Good Manufacturing Practice certification as well. “Only a few logistics services providers comply with all these standards,” says Steven Reinhold, authorised representative at Unitax. “Providers that are fully certified, such as our company, are therefore in great demand.” (mw)
