Ukrzaliznytsia to invest in 40 new locomotives
Ukrainia plans to modernise its locomotive fleet. Ukraine’s ministry for infrastructure, the Ukrainian Railways Ukrzaliznytsia and the company Wabtec (GE Transportation) recently signed a MoU for the delivery of 40 new General Electric TE33AC locomotives in 2020 and the provision of maintenance services for 70 such locomotives.
“Another important point is the expansion of production sites in Ukraine. We are also negotiating about this,” the minister for infrastructure said. In 2018 the following agreements were signed: a diesel locomotive supply agreement between Ukreximbank and GE, and a financial leasing agreement between Ukrzaliznytsia and Ukreximbank for 30 diesel locomotives manufactured by GE.
