UECC helps JLR mitigate EU emission compliance costs
Luxury vehicle manufacturer JLR has joined UECC’s ‘Sail for Change’ initiative, leveraging low-carbon liquefied biomethane (LBM) to decarbonise its logistics chain. JLR is the fourth automaker to adopt this programme, which uses LBM supplied by Titan Clean Fuels to cut greenhouse gas emissions on UECC’s dual-fuel LNG vessels operating in European shortsea trade routes.
The initiative, extended into 2025, aims to cut more than 75,000 t of emissions and aligns with JLR's goal to achieve net-zero emissions in its value chain by 2039. UECC’s proactive adoption of alternative fuels, such as LBM and biodiesel, supports its broader sustainability goal of net-zero operations by 2040.
The programme also provides a competitive edge by mitigating potential costs under upcoming EU regulations, including an emissions trading system and rules called ‘Fuel EU Maritime’. (pb)
