Two weekly trains to replace 4,000 trucks annually
Following a successful trial with a test train, Dettmer Rail Group has now implemented a regular intermodal service. With immediate effect, two trains per week will run with GATX intermodal wagons in Germany between Nuremberg and Black-Forest-Terminal Horb.
The new service will increase the efficiency of transport services and make a significant contribution to relieving road congestion and reducing CO2 emissions, Dettmer Rail said. Shifting cargo traffic to rail will save around 1,500 t of CO2 per year. Previously, around 108,000 t of backfill material were shipped to Stetten exclusively by road, which required 30 trucks per day. (ben)
