Two Italian groups take on intermodality
Codognotto Group, a logistics company based in Salgareda, Treviso, and GTS group - an intermodal operator based in Bari, are partnering to expand the intermodal package offering in Italy and Europe.
Codognotto has been investing more than EUR 10 million in intermodal assets, including digitalisation and combined road-rail transport.
GTS acquired GTS Rail in 2008, becoming one of the first railway companies in Italy. This new partnership will result in 50’000 t of goods being transferred from road to rail and a reduction in road traffic which will allow 2’000 trucks to be taken off the road every year.
Gabriele Piccolo, deputy FTL director of Codognotto Group: “The new Codognotto-GTS agreement will allow us to provide customers with a renovated and competitive intermodal offer in terms of quality of service and reduction of CO2 emissions.” (mk)
