Two Asia trains launched

Nurminen Logistics will be the first operator to operate blocktrains from Europe to India via the western wing of the international north-south transport corridor (INSTC), a 7,200 km multimodal network of ship, rail and road routes for moving freight between India, Russia, Azerbaijan, Iran, Europe and Central Asia.

The train route is two times faster than the traditional maritime route via the Suez Canal. The blocktrain will depart from Helsinki (Finland) in mid-June. The transit time from Helsinki to Nhava Sheva (India) is 25 days.

Also this month, Nurminen will introduced a weekly train service from the Far East to northern Europe on the Trans-Siberian route. The rail cargo will be transported every week from China, Japan and Korea via Vladivostok to Helsinki and other Nordic countries. (ben)
