Turkey: TIR speeds up aid delivery
Pakistani operator National Logistics Cell (NLC) has delivered essential relief items to people impacted by the devastating earthquake in Turkey.
A caravan of 21 trucks operated by NLC, a TIR carrier in Pakistan, transported humanitarian aid – including tents, blankets, and other basic aid supplies – to Turkey, the International Road Transport Union (IRU) reports.
The goods were transported via Iran, using the Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul (ITI) corridor and the TIR system. The transit of the relief goods was facilitated by Iranian authorities in close coordination with ECO and IRU. Iran exempted the cargo and truck drivers from transit charges and visa fees.
