Truck and bus to replace short flights
As of 1 May 2023, Finnair will cease flying two of its shortest domestic routes, replacing 25-35 minutes long air flights between its Helsinki hub and the cities of Turku (TKU) and Tampere (TMP) with connections by bus - and truck.
Perttu Jolma, VP Network: "The flights to Tampere and Turku are very short, and the relatively low passenger numbers – around 35% load factors – on these routes cause them to have a higher CO2 emission per passenger than many other short routes in our network."
In June 2022, Capman Nordic Real Estate III fund acquired an airside logistics and last mile asset at TKU (photo). Adjacent to the airport's runway, it serves both air and ground freight and is a significant node in the Finnish and Nordic logistics network. The main tenants are TNT Fedex and DHL Express. (ah)
