Trilatec featured by Solar Impulse Foundation
The list of 1,000 innovative ideas that prove that sustainable solutions can also be economically attractive, set up by solar flight pioneer Bertrand Piccard’s Solar Impulse Foundation, now includes the name "squAIR-timber".
Developed by the German company Trilatec, this system replaces wood pallets and beams used in air freight transportation with comparable solutions made out of cardboard fibre. The products of its portfolio are 80% lighter than wood, lowering fuel consumption and helping to reduce CO2 emissions from global air freight transportation.
Managing director Andreas Langemann: "We are particularly honoured to have been awarded a label from the Solar Impulse Foundation because we believe that squAir-timber perfectly embodies the combination of economic and environmental benefits." (ah)
