Trident and Neptune to help protect supply chain

Canadian National Railway (CN) has added two new firefighting trains and two more railcars to its fire mitigation fleet. These specialised units, the Trident and the Neptune trains, will join CN’s existing firefighting train, Poseidon.

Together, these three trains will provide support in combatting wildfires, bringing a significant amount of water and fire suppression capacity to isolated areas, helping to ensure the fluidity and security of goods.

Poseidon is a 66-foot bulkhead flat railcar equipped with two 13,250-litre tanks, three water pumps, fire hoses, and a diesel-electric generator. Trident and Neptune have some improvements, such as additional 360° cameras and separate 20-foot and 40-foot containers. (ben)
