Trialling alternative drives and fuels
Two IDS partners are currently testing a number of green transport projects in Germany. The Geis Group is exploring the use of HVO100, a biogenic fuel obtained from residual and waste materials such as used cooking oil and wood residues. The diesel substitute reduces CO2 emissions by up to 90%. Geis is also testing a new generation of e-trucks with a Mercedes-Benz eActros 600.
Meanwhile, the Noerpel Group is deploying a hydrogen-powered 18 t vehicle for its distribution traffic. The H2 truck has an unladen weight of 12.77 t. With an average payload of 6.3 t, it has a range of around 320 km, whereby the truck has to master a gradient of 5.4% over a distance of 1.4 km every day. (ben)
