Transuniverse acquires Welpa Trans
In Belgium, Transuniverse Forwarding based in Wondelgem close to Ghent has taken over the forwarding company Welpa Trans in Wommelgem, Antwerp. The transaction price was not disclosed.
Welpa Trans, founded in 1984, generates an annual turnover of EUR 5.5 million. This asset-light forwarding company specialising in road transport does not have its own trucks but acts as an intermediary between shippers and carriers. It runs transport services in Eastern Europe and more specifically in Romania, Poland, Czechia, and Hungary.
“Thanks to this operation, we are strengthening our presence in traffic to Eastern Europe and consolidating our expertise in chartering,” says Olivia Adins, member of the Transuniverse management committee. The entire staff, including shareholder Linda Slootmans, who shares the directorship of the company with Johnny Granacher, will stay on board.
In another takeover, Transuniverse Forwarding acquired the Evergem-based company Apmex a month ago. (sh)
