Transport sector demands support
“Too much is expected from transport companies: on the one hand, they must guarantee the delivery of essential supplies for the population and the economy, on the other hand, they receive no support,” the Deutsches Verkehrsforum (DVF) criticised after receiving the news that customs controls on the Austro-German border will be continued until 3 March 2021.
The DVF added that testing capacities at the frontiers are totally inadequate, so that truck drivers have to wait for hours in a confined space.
Now the DVF calls for action: “Among other things, entry regulations must include manageable rules and exceptions. Moreover, even one year after the outbreak of the pandemic, there is still a lack of digital interfaces for entry applications and there is still no legally binding information platform." (ben)
