Transforming a brownfield in Bottrop
In a new brownfield-project for a Japanese company, Prologis is turning an old steel production site into a 57,200 sqm logistics hub. The real estate developer will construct the two buildings in Bottrop for Yusen Logistics Germany.
Yusen Logistics plans to use the site as its European hub to attract new employees and reach new markets. Situated in the centre of the Ruhr industrial area, Bottrop is a good location for the company to optimise its supply chains.
Demolition of the old site began in February, and construction started in November. Prologis plans to finish the hub by the end of November 2024. Heat pumps and solar panels will be installed on the estate to reduce gas dependency. Facilities for the charging of electric vehicles will be in place. All in all, the project is designed to save 7,000 t of CO2 emissions annually. (mk)
