Transalpine traffic saves 23,500 t more CO2
Swiss-based rolling highway (rola) operator Ralpin transported almost 70,000 trucks last year. This almost a quarter more than the 56,000 trucks in 2020 and represents a decrease of 23,500 t of CO2.
Operative losses were reduced by two thirds in the second year of the pandemic. The new 2021-2023 business plan in particular helped Ralpin manage the adversities caused by the pandemic in the previous year.
Due to construction work, the rola trains travelled via the Luino-Line for the first time, permitting Ralpin to run its service all year round, other than in 2020. In addition, starting from mid-October, truck drivers were able to acquire EU Covid test certificates valid for 48 hours. (ben)
