Train service to Irkutsk region introduced
Transcontainer and Ruscon are planning to offer regular intermodal transports of oilseeds to Eastern Siberia. Over three months, pilot trains already delivered 448 teu oilseeds to the Irkutsk region. Now, the two Russian companies want to increase the frequency of services to four to six block trains per month.
For the project, Ruscon takes over all freight forwarding services, while Transcontainer provides flatcars and containers and handles the cargo its own and third-party terminals.
In 2023, Transcontainer launched cross-border transport services of grain, oilseeds and processed goods from the Irkutsk region. Over 2.100 teu were exported in the first nine months of 2023. (ben)
