Train service replaces Red Sea route

In cooperation with the terminal operator CSP Zeebrugge, the private Belgium railway operator Lineas has set up a new train connection between Zeebrugge (Belgium) and Graz (Austria) on behalf of Cosco Shipping Lines.

This solution helps shippers to deal with the logistics challenges caused by ongoing attacks by Houthi rebels, which have made the usual route along the Red Sea and via the port of Piraeus, Greece, temporarily impossible.

The new train service provides a fast and reliable connection for the delivery of freight from Belgium to Austria, Lineas said. It owns the largest private rail network in Europe with daily connections across the continent. (ben)
