Train clears away debris
In Czechia, CD Cargo has started transporting waste from municipalities in southern Moravia, where a tornado caused great devastation at the end of June.
The debris is loaded onto a 24-car train set on each of the sidings of the former Mir mine in Mikulcice near the Slovakian border and taken to Litvinov in northern Bohemia. Here it is unloaded on the siding of the Technical Museum and then further sorted and processed.
For the cleanup after the tornado, Czechia is relying on the railways to transport the waste because they are the most cost effective and eco-friendly alternative. CD Cargo trains are to ship at least 35,000 t of tornado waste from southern Moravia to northern Bohemia. (ben)
