Tracking containers with cargo-partner
The Austrian logistics services provider cargo-partner has introduced a new container tracking service for complete seafreight shipments. The new feature is available via the supply chain management spot that cargo-partner uses to administer all airfreight, seafreight and road haulage services.
The spot can be accessed from all web browsers or as a mobile app and enables users to track their containers in real time. The new technology combines data from various sources: shipping schedules and status information from shipping companies, information on the vessel’s current position sent by AIS as well as data supplied by ports and terminals.
Using geofencing technology, the time and place a vessel enters a certain zone are recorded. When the vessel has left the port of departure, the intelligent algorithm calculates all planned dates for milestone events – transshipment, arrival, unloading, etc. – and transmits the data to spot. (mw)
