Tracing 13,500 freight wagons in real time
Continuing its digitalisation programme, Transwaggon, headquartered in Zug, Switzerland, has extended its cooperation with Savvy, a provider of telematics and sensor solutions.
Over the next three years, a further 7,000 telematics units will be installed, so that eventually all 13,500 freight cars will be equipped with telematics systems.
Among other things, the devices provide precise GPS/GNSS position data in real time over the entire route. This provides full transparency on the position of the wagons - from loading to unloading. Goods transports can also be planned and handled more efficiently. The batteries of the Savvy devices function reliably even at temperatures as low as -40 degrees Celsius.
Transwaggon's fleet is also used by a logistics company for rail transports for Scandinavia's forestry sector. (ben)
