Toyota Motor Europe honours UECC’s sustainability
Toyota Motor Europe (TME) has awarded United European Car Carriers (UECC) its 2025 ‘Sustainability Achievement Award’ for reducing the carbon footprint of Toyota’s European logistics operations.
The Oslo-based shortsea ro-ro operator was recognised for transporting over 50,000 Toyota vehicles carbon-neutrally in 2024, thanks to its use of liquefied biomethane (LBM) and hybrid LNG-battery-powered PCTCs.
“This award shows the power of partnership in delivering real CO₂ reductions,” said UECC CEO Glenn Edvardsen, after receiving the award from TME’s vice-president of corporate affairs and sustainability, Monica Perez Lobo.
The award highlights TME’s broader supply chain decarbonisation efforts, which aim to cut emissions by 33% by 2030. With two more hybrid newbuilds due in 2028, UECC continues to focus on sustainable shortsea transport. (ah)
