Top air trade lanes between EU/US and emerging markets
The latest Agility Emerging Markets Logistics Index (Aemli) shows that the volume of goods exported as airfreight from the EU and USA to the 50 emerging economies that were surveyed amounted to 4.045 million t in 2018, 4% more than in 2017.
The three fastest growing trade routes were: the USA - Philippines (+59.5% to 29,000 t), EU - Malaysia (+21.6%, 46,000 t) and USA - Mexiko (+18.7%, 165,000 t). The growth rate (+4.5%) and the overall tonnage (5.642 million t) were higher in the opposite direction.
The biggest growth rate was noted on the Cambodia – USA route (+39.1% to 12,000 t). It was followed by Chile - EU (+26.2%, 16,000 t) and Brazil - USA (+22.5%, 64,000 t).
Some 1.4 million t of goods (+9.6%) were flown on the China - EU route, while 1.3 million t (+3.6%) went from China to the USA. EU exports to China rose by 7.7% to 403,000 t, US exports to China registered weaker growth compared to the 25 leading routes. (ah)
