TIR trade route Kashgar - Kabul opened
The Kashgar TIR Logistics Hub in northwest China’s Xinjiang region consolidates all essential TIR transit services under one roof and serves for goods transported to western Asia and beyond. To accelerate the transport services, a new trade route to Afghanistan has now been activated, the International Road Transport Union (IRU) reports.
The first truck recently departed from Kashgar – China’s unique TIR hub - after completing all TIR and export customs declaration procedures. Then it crossed the Chinese Khunjerab border, travelled through Pakistan and finally arrived in the Afghan capital of Kabul.
The maiden run shows that the TIR system significantly simplifies and accelerates customs procedures, the Kashgar hub said. (ben)
