TIR journeys now operational in Saudi Arabia
In close cooperation between national guaranteeing associations, customs authorities and the international road union (IRU), a TIR transport operation from Dubai, United Arab Emirates, to Amman, Jordan via the kingdom of Saudi Arabia was successfully concluded this week.
Taking only four days to make the trip, the TIR transport knocked days off the usual journey time, which is seven days when carried without the TIR guarantee.
H.E. Mr. Ahmed AlHakbani, the governor of Saudi customs: “The start of TIR operations in the kingdom represents an important step for Saudi customs towards the harmonisation and facilitation of customs transit.” (ben)
