TIR green lanes and other measures to speed up transit
Members of the Economic Cooperation Organization have approved an action plan to improve their infrastructure on two new corridors - Kyrgyzstan-Tajikistan-Afghanistan-Iran and Islamabad-Tehran-Istanbul, according to the International Road Union (IRU).
The plan aims to harmonise the national visa procedures, with one-year multiple-entry visas for drivers of TIR transports. The digital TIR IT tools will be introduced in Afghanistan and Tajikistan, while the eTIR pilot project between Iran and Turkey will be expanded.
Pakistan will join Iran and Turkey in the eTIR project. Furthermore, the action plan includes implementing TIR green lanes at border crossings, which will speed up transits. (ben)
