Time to end air cargo anti-trust dispute
Deutsche Bahn has reached a settlement with Lufthansa concerning the air cargo cartel which was in operation between 1999 and 2006. The settlement ends the companies' dispute that has been ongoing since 2013. The settling parties are DB Barnsdale, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Deutsche Bahn, Lufthansa Cargo, Swiss International Air Lines and Deutsche Lufthansa. They mutually agreed that further details remain strictly confidential.
Martin Seiler, member of the management board of DB for HR and legal affairs said: "Instead of continuing costly legal proceedings for years to come, it would be in the interests of all sides if we could reach an agreement with the remaining cartelists." He was referring to the following carriers: Cargolux, Cathay Pacific, LAN Chile/LATAM, Air Canada, British Airways and Japan Airlines. (ah)
