Three partners to optimise transhipment in Abidjan

Earlier this month, the Port Autonome d’Abidjan (PAA), Abidjan Terminal and Côte d’Ivoire Terminal signed a strategic agreement to harmonise the handling of transhipment traffic between the two terminals. The signing ceremony took place at the PAA headquarters in the presence of (from left to right) Côte d’Ivoire Terminal managing director Koen De Backker, Abidjan Terminal managing director Asta-Rosa Cissé, and PAA managing director Hien Yacouba Sié.

The agreement provides a structured framework for managing and accounting for trans-terminal transhipment traffic, ensuring smooth coordination of operations. It also allows Côte d’Ivoire Terminal to include these volumes in its minimum throughput commitments to the PAA, without risk of double-counting. This initiative consolidates Abidjan’s position as a key transhipment hub on Africa’s Atlantic coast. (ah)
