Three musketeers for USEC
Maersk, MSC and ZIM are launching a new joint TP23 service between from China and Vietnam to the US east coast from May this year.
Ports of call will be Vung Tau in Vietnam, Yantian in South China, and, after crossing the Panama Canal, Savannah, Charleston and Newark. The route may be subject to change depending on the state of congestion at ports.
The ten ships deployed will have a capacity of approximately 6,500 teu. Maersk brings in eight units, ZIM two, and MSC will be a non-vessel operating partner. The new service is presented as a means to circumvent current congestions especially in transpacific waters. (cd)
