Three Japanese carriers for Russian LNG
The Japanese shipping company MOL inked charter agreements for three icebreaking LNG carriers with LLC Arctic LNG 2, in which the Russian company Pao Novatek holds the largest share, through a wholly owned MOL subsidiary on 28 October.
The three vessels will be built by Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering in South Korea and are scheduled for delivery in 2023.
The ships will mainly transport LNG from an LNG loading terminal on the Gydan Peninsula in the Russian Arctic to the floating LNG storage units (FSU) to be installed at the transhipment terminal in Russia, in Kamchatka (eastbound) and Murmansk (westbound), via the Northern Sea route. (cd)
