Thirteenth record in a row
Canadian National Railways’ (CN) large investments of CAD 10 billion (EUR 6.67 billion) in track, safety enhancing technologies, locomotives and railcars since 2018 are now paying off.
In March 2021, the carrier moved 2.95 million t of western Canadian grain, exceeding the previous record of 2.74 t set in 2020 and 19% ahead of the three-year average of 2.47 t.
During Q1/2021, and despite the extreme temperatures experienced over large parts of CN’s network in February, CN moved 8.2 t of Canadian grain, exceeding the previous first quarter record of 7.0 t established in 2017 and over 25% higher than the three-year average of 6.5 t. (ben)
