Third strong quarter in a row for DP World
DP World handled around 19.8 million teu in Q3/2021, a rise of approximately 8.1% year-on-year. In the first three quarters of 2021, the Emirati logistician and terminal operator handled around 58.4 million teu in all of its container terminals worldwide. The number of boxes transported rose by approximately 11.9% year-on-year.
Q3 volumes were driven by upticks in many trades, including in the Asia-Pacific region, India, the Middle East, Africa and Australia. Facilities in Qingdao, Mumbai and Sokhna (Egypt) all put in strong performances.
Group CEO Sultan Ahmed Bin Sulayem said that “our strong performance illustrates the resilience of the global container industry on the one hand, and DP World’s continued ability to outperform the market on the other.” The near-term outlook remains positive for him, but “we expect growth rates to moderate in the final quarter.” (sh)
