The rising sun over Frankfurt
Nikkei-listed All Nippon Airways (ANA) is launching its first scheduled freighter flights to Europe with the start of services between Tokyo and Frankfurt today. The Boeing B777F flights will operate twice a week (Wednesdays and Saturdays) and offer 100 t capacity per flight.
The Japanese airline added Frankfurt to its international freighter network as a charter destination in June, with one flight a week. With good demand from both countries, the airline increased frequencies to two a week in September. The service became a scheduled flight with effect from today and until the end of March 2021.
Overall, ANA expects to operate 1,899 freighter and cargo-only flights in November – a new record of cargo flights in a single month for ANA. ANA also operates passenger aircraft cargo flights to and from London Heathrow, Paris Charles de Gaulle and Brussels.
ATC Aviation Services is ANA’s cargo general sales agent in Germany, and ANA’s joint-venture partner Lufthansa Cargo is its cargo handler. (cd)
