The "Hopper" is back
The direct connection between the Überseehafen and Columbus Island in Bremen has been restored, with the "Columbus Hopper" resuming operation this week. The 40 m long ship offers factory traffic a way to cross the connecting canal between Kaiserhafen and Nordhafen.
After the accident of the swing bridge, ships had to make a detour through the city and via the Kaiserschleuse. The “Columbus Hopper” is manned by a skipper and a sailor provided by Bremenports. (sh)
