The Dart – from Blue to Bharat
The re-branding of a CEP service is an unusual thing. Blue Dart Express, an Indian express air and integrated transport and distribution logistics company headquartered in Mumbai and part of DHL’s e-commerce division, has unveiled its revamped service Bharat Dart, formerly known as Dart Plus.
The time-sensitive delivery service offers full visibility on the last mile, amongst other things. One of Blue Dart’s advantages lies in its reach, boasting access to more than 55,000 domestic locations as well as 220 countries and territories.
Through initiatives like 'Dawn' (delivery anywhere now) and 'Rise' (revenue increase from SMEs and emerging markets), Blue Dart has recently expanded its serviceable locations, with a special focus on tier II and tier III cities in India.
In the group's financial year 2023, the share of tier II and tier III cities as a percentage of the overall e-commerce market amounted to 19% and 37% respectively. Pablo Ciano, CEO of DHL e-commerce, pointed out that “our 'DHL Group Strategy 2025' has identified e-commerce as a megatrend, and we firmly believe in its immense potential.” (cd)
