The advantages of a modular system
VTG is remodelling its freight wagons to make railfreight transport more flexible: Thanks to the separation of body and substructure and the modular set up of the sqm platform, the wagons may be used for many different applications.
Since the superstructure is interchangeable, a wagon no longer serves just one purpose. Depending on individual needs, the respective modules can be linked together in a variety of ways.
The modular design makes logistics more flexible overall, but also improves the scope of application and capacity utilisation of the rolling stock over its entire life cycle, according to VTG. The tailor-made modular solutions are now available for a wide range of industries. (ben)
