Thai ports benefited in 2021
The state-run Port Authority of Thailand (PAT) has reported its annual figures for 2021. It generated revenues of THB 15.6 billion (USD 508 million) last year, a rise of 6% compared to 2020. The year's profit amounted to THB 6.2 billion (USD 202 million). Of the total revenues in 2021, 70% were due to shipping.
The Laem Chabang Port in Chonburi contributed 57% of the revenues, with the remaining 43% being attributed to the ports in Bangkok.
In volumes, Thailand’s ports handled 9.8 million teu compared to 9 million teu in 2020. PAT is planning six new projects in 2022 to promote the activities in the ports. (sh)
