Testing a third CO2-neutral option
A truck that emits only water vapour, generates the required electricity in the vehicle itself and has a range of up to 1,000 km: hydrogen-powered fuel cells will soon make this possible. Volvo Trucks has already started testing such vehicles in a protected environment. They are scheduled to be deployed in a pilot project planned for the second half of this decade.
It is a third CO2-neutral option in Volvo's product portfolio - in addition to the battery-powered electric trucks already available and vehicles powered by renewable fuels such as biogas, Volvo says. The charging time for these fuel cell-based e-trucks, which weigh more than 65t, is less than 15 minutes. (ben)
