Test kits follow masks to central Germany
Following the delivery of protective masks from China the month before, the first of four initially planned freighters carrying corona test kits for the whole of Germany landed at Erfurt-Weimar Airport (ERF) at the end of March. Loaded were 480,000 corona tests with a total weight of about 20 t.
Airport CEO Gerd Stöwer: "We are pleased that as the regional airport of Thuringia, we can now also make an important contribution to the logistics of the corona tests in the fight against the pandemic in Germany."
He added that the regional airport is "increasingly developing into a central transhipment point for express and special air freight in this country."
The cargo was delivered aboard an unusually large aircraft for the location, the B757-200PCF of Russian E-Cargo Airlines. (ah)
