Terminal operator orders electric automated trucks

APM Terminals Maasvlakte II has signed a contract with Embotech and Terberg to purchase 30 electric automated terminal trucks (eATTs). The fleet is expected to enter service in 2027, with units capable of operating autonomously in complex and mixed traffic situations.

The undertaking follows a pilot project and extensive testing at APM Terminals on the Maasvlakte. The launch of the eATTs in the port of Rotterdam sees the three companies introduce the first automated fleet in port terminal operations with mixed traffic.

The vehicles are equipped with Embotech’s level 4 AV kit, with Terberg providing drive-by-wire electric terminal tractors. (ben)
