Tecon Suape’s ESG commitment
Tecon Suape, a business unit of International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICTSI) located in Brazil’s Suape port and industrial complex, has attained carbon-neutral certification in compliance with Associação Brasileira de Normas Técnicas standards (ABNT) for greenhouse gas emissions management and PAS 260.
Tecon Suape has taken significant steps to reduce its carbon footprint by prioritising energy efficiency and replacing conventional electricity usage with renewable sources. Additionally, the company has invested in ‘Clean Development Mechanism’ projects (CDM), such as the ‘Fundão Santa Clara Energy Complex’, which generates carbon credits recognised by the United Nations.
This certification underscores Tecon Suape’s commitment to environmental sustainability, efficient greenhouse gas emissions management and responsible ESG practices, making it the fourth terminal in the ICTSI Group to achieve carbon-neutral status. (pb)
