Teaming up for shipbuilding innovations
The Indian Register of Shipping (IRS) has signed an MOU with the Maritime Research Institute Netherlands (Marin), effective 29 April 2024. The partnership aims to enhance IRS's technical capabilities in shipbuilding through collaborative hydrodynamic studies and model testing.
The MOU covers ongoing and future construction projects at Indian shipyards that are classed by IRS. Marin will provide scientific expertise and access to its research facilities in the Netherlands, which will bolster IRS's delivery of advanced maritime solutions to its clients.
PK Mishra, joint managing director of IRS, emphasised that this collaboration aligns with IRS's goal to innovate and excel in shipbuilding research, particularly benefiting defence projects and other new constructions under IRS classification. (pb)
