Takeover and investment in automation
Germany-based parcel service provider GLS is expanding its service portfolio and purchasing the fulfilment service specialist Versandmanufaktur. With the acquisition, customers can now carry out all their logistics processes with GLS as an integrated service provider.
The services include goods receiving, storage and order picking, packaging, shipping and returns management. Personalised services such as product refinement are also available. In return, Versandmanufaktur will gain access to the GLS international logistics network.
Versandmanufaktur will continue to operate independently and at the same time expand its business by investing in automation. GLS aims to strengthen its position in the growing e-commerce market. It processes around 1.2 million parcels per year with around 130 employees. (ben)
