Taiwan monopile removal wrapped up
Jumbo Offshore has completed the removal of two monopiles at the offshore wind farm (OWF) Yunlin in Taiwan.
The contract, which was awarded by Yunneng Wind Power (YWPC), required the DP2 heavy lift crane vessel “Fairplayer” to handle the underwater cutting, recovery, transport, and offloading of monopile sections. Two monopiles, which had suffered from a pile run during an earlier project phase, had to be removed.
The vessel was equipped with an underwater cutting tool from Claxton Engineering Services, an ROV from IKM Subsea, and survey equipment from Reach Subsea. From signing to completion, the project took five months, including the vessel's voyage from Europe to Taiwan. (pb)
