Tackling HGV driver shortage
British recruitment agency Encore Personnel has planned ahead for a shortage of lorry drivers. Operating ten branches across the Midlands for more than 15 years, Encore is an accredited member of Logistics UK.
With the pandemic and Brexit, the driver recruitment sector is experiencing major problems, as Pete Taylor (second from right), managing director at Encore Personnel, explains. The drivers chose to go back to mainland Europe with no promise of returning.
“We now need more staff to source quality drivers compared to a few years ago, as they are becoming rarer by the day and the competition to obtain their work is unprecedented. […] without (the drivers) the country’s supply chain would grind to a halt.” (amh)
