Switzerland: increasing road safety
Switzerland will introduce new working and rest time regulations (ARV) from 1 July 2026. They will apply to full-time drivers of delivery vans in cross-border commercial freight traffic.
The amendments are in line with the relevant EU regulations and are intended to increase safety in road transport. Legislation concerning transports within Switzerland will remain unchanged.
The new rule will affect around 1,200 delivery vans and around 3,200 drivers in Switzerland. The vans used for these transports must be equipped with an intelligent tachograph. With these changes, the Swiss Federal Council is implementing a corresponding parliamentary proposal. (ben)
