Switzerland and Bangladesh ink agreement

Switzerland and Bangladesh signed a bilateral air service agreement on 4 June. The first of its kind between the two countries, it reflects the Swiss government’s efforts to ensure that Switzerland is connected to as many intercontinental destinations as possible via traffic rights.

The agreement will give the airlines concerned the required operational flexibility on routes between the two countries. In particular, it contains no restrictions on the number of airlines flying between them, and codeshare flights are permitted.

The parties confirmed that designated companies are granted the right to operate direct flights, limiting these to seven frequencies a week each for passenger flights and cargo flights. This new arrangement will be of economic benefit to both Switzerland and Bangladesch. (cj)
